Merry Christmas to you all. Poem written two years ago, but I hope it makes you smile.
The tree’s too small and tends to fall
The angel’s tattered most of all
The lights don’t work, the garlands drop
But in this home it’s Christmas.
**
The Christmas gifts aren’t quite wrapped yet
The puppy peed, the floor got wet
(That smell we sniffed was a sure bet)
But in this home, it’s Christmas.
**
The snow outside is fluffy and bright
The turkey’s cooked and it’s done right
The baked ham glistens in candlelight
And in this home, it’s Christmas.
**
This house has seen a hundred years
Of laughter, hopes and even tears
Of festive times and warmth and grace
And joy and peace at Christmas.
**
We wish you warmth, we wish you love
Peace landing gently as a dove
We wish you rest, we wish you joy
In your good home, this Christmas.

Wonderful Cynthia. Merry Christmas!
Delightful poem. I found myself humming “I Saw Three Ships” as I read it. Miraculously the tune fits the cadence of your poem. Try it!!! Merry Christmas. – Karen
Karen:
It works!!!
Thank you so much.
Merry Christmas!
Karen, our whole family sang the words to that tune and we loved it. Thank you for suggesting it!
Wonderful! We will expect a youtube video.
OK, kiddo – I’ll get you and your family to sing it….(tee hee)
As lovely as funny 😉
Joyeux Noël
Colette
Merci!
Lovely – Happy Christmas Cynthia:)
Such a delightful poem… Merry Christmas, Cynthia. Best wishes for 2016.
A lovely poem, and everything there looks beautiful! I like the ornament selfie, too.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you! No snow here after all, but we have green grass in December, and I caught a beautiful rainbow the other day.
Thanks, Lavinia. Been thinking of you and Rick, especially at Christmas.
This is great, Cynthia. I hope you’re having a wonderful day xxxxx
We did! Hope you did too.
Wonderful! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Merry Christmas from Amy and the greyhound gang..
And to you dear Florist-teacher of mine!
Well, you should enjoy this, someone saw one of the blogs and contacted me for floral work!
And so they should. Great news!
I loved the way this poem made me feel. It took me to a place…that was hard to leave..
Blessings,
Theresa
Merry Christmas, Theresa. And thank you! Thanks to Karen Pickering, I learned that it goes perfectly with the tune to “I saw three ships coming sailing in…” So our whole family sang it this evening.
Yay, I have sung this poem as well. What super fun! (Fun for me, and luckily no one in earshot to hear my untunefulness)
Our family was entirely off-key – but we laughed and loved it. I’m glad you sang it, my friend.
I would fit into your off-key family choir perfectly. 😀
I bet you would, though you may have to try really hard to be as bad as we are.
Possibly. 🙂
Best wishes for 2016.
And to you, Helen.
Thank you, Cynthia.
And to you and yours, Cynthia
Thank you.
Great poem. I hope you and your family are enjoying a wonderful festive season, dear Cynthia.
We are, dear Chloris. Children and spouses are here and a dear friend too, and we are so happy.
Utterly delightful!
I hope the season has been good to you so far, Hilary!
Your poem did make me smile as did your lovely photos. I hope you had a delightful Christmas.
Tree certainly looks perfect! I believe the most important things about Christmas are light, warmth and love one can share. Happy and inspiration filled New Year Cynthia! I hope you write many more articles, posts, poems and share them with us!
Happy Christmas! A bit belatedly.
It looks to me like the perfect Christmas!!!
I think you’re right. Thank you.
