Laurie Graves, American author, book reviewer and blogger gave me an early Christmas present: a wonderful review of An Honest House. Laurie is the author of the brand-new “Maya and the Book of Everything”. Thank you, Laurie.
I’m going to take a break from promoting my book to sing the praises, as the saying goes, of another book—An Honest House: A Memoir, Continued by Cynthia Reyes. As the title suggests, An Honest House is the sequel to A Good Home, and while you will definitely want to read both books, An Honest house stands by itself.
In An Honest House, Cynthia Reyes recounts the struggles of living life with chronic injuries she suffered during a car crash some years ago. She writes “Time passed. The injuries didn’t. It took me nearly two years to face it: instead of recovering, I was getting worse. Alone in the house one day, I admitted to a series of stark truths. Easy mobility? Gone. Independence? Gone. Eloquent speech, quick wit, easy confidence? Gone, gone, gone.”

Well worth the praise! 😉
Thanks, Kev!
A lovely review, and I echo Kev’s comment. Well worth it indeed.
Thank you, K.
I completely agree. Wonderful book.
And you kindly took the time to write an Amazon review. I am so grateful, Karen.
A wonderful review – but not more than you deserve!
Thank you, dear Clare.
My pleasure.
What a warm, glowing review, so well deserved too. Many congratulations and Happy Christmas, Cynthia.
Thank you, Kate. One of my dreams is to visit your glorious, famous garden. In the meantime, I recommend it to any gardener visiting the UK.
Oh, bless you, Cynthia. My little garden isn’t famous – just a little bit odd/different from the norm.
Such modesty!
Cynthia, I smiled as I read the “just one more chapter” line; that’s exactly what happened to me when I read your books. Congratulations on a wonderful review.
Blessings ~ Wendy
Wendy, you are such a generous, supportive blogger. We are all blessed by you.
❤ You've just described one of my favorite bloggers–you. 🙂
Congratulations! A very, very wonderful review, Cynthia, every word of it. Yes, it was hard to put your books down at night, and I resorted to reading by flashlight. I am looking forward to your next book!
The flashlight reference made me smile. It’s back to the teen years, reading by flashlight! How is the wine-making going? Has the must turned to wine yet?
Congratulations again Cynthia. You seem to do very well at connecting with other people who enjoy sharing your books. A master connector. 🙂
Maybe we look for and find the kindred spirit in each other, Brad. Many of us are intelligent, but there’s also a welcome kindness in each person who reads my books or follows my blogs. Intelligence without compassion is something I want no part of.
I understand about preferring to be with people who live from heart. When I was younger, I mostly lived from mind.
Well, we were taught to do so. And the workplace seemed to reward those who ignored the language of the heart and even punished others who used it.
Congratulations on an outstanding review, Cynthia!
Hey Jill: Very soon, we’ll be celebrating your book! Congrats on the fabulous cover.
Aw…thank you so much, Cynthia.
What a lovely review, Cynthia! I’m sure the book deserves it, and I am looking forward to reading your first book.
What an honour that will be, Luanne. I thank you for that, and hope you will enjoy it. Thanks for your very interesting writing, too!
Aw, thanks. I ordered your book :).
A wonderful review, Cynthia. Congratulations!
Thank you. It’s much appreciated, as is your comment.
I feel joy for you with every good review and exposure:). Well deserved and then some!
Thank you very much, K.
Wonderful review Cynthia .. Love the .. Just one more chapter 😃
Great review Cynthia but no less than it warrants 🙂
Thank you, Andrea. I appreciate your kind comment.
Congrats on a wonderful review. 🙂
Thanks. I’ve asked my daughter to buy me your latest book, since books are all I want for Christmas. So I hope to start reading soon!
Oh, I’m touched Cynthia. I sure do look forward to getting to yours on my dreaded TBR. I will get there eventually. And, as a heads up, my new book is going free this coming Monday as a Christmas treat! 🙂
How wonderful to get such a great review, Cynthia, you must be so pleased after all the passion and hard work that went into it. Just ordered a copy and look forward to reading it during my christmas break. Have a good xmas yourself 🙂
Thanks so much. I’m honoured that you will be reading the book and thanks for spending your money on it. I appreciate it.
I’ve no doubt it’ll be well spent 🙂
