The fig tree survived the cold spring weather!

The fig tree survived the cold spring weather!

It’s a miracle that it survives the long, cold Ontario winters each year. After all, it’s not hardy to Ontario. We (read: my husband) bury it in a trench and cover it with garden soil and leaves. And pray.

IN late May every year, ¬†comes the resurrection, AKA “Dig the Fig” day..

We finally dig the fig up from its trench in the garden, plant it upright, and within days it has fresh green leaves.

We did the same this year. And then, wham! ¬†Along came the winter-like weather just a few days later… oh no!

But today the fig tree is thriving, and already has a dozen budding fruit to show!

Ain’t that wonderful!!

How’s your garden doing?
