Thanks to Marilyn at Simply Splendid Victorian Afternoon Teas for this recipe for a wonderful apple cake. It’s been enjoyed by many over the past year.
And what a privilege to have a cake named for me.
Enjoy!

Yum!!!! π
If I had the rum and treacle I would be making this cake right now. How interesting to have a cake with 3 different textures; cake base, fruit middle and pudding-like top. I hope the Lady Cynthia cake becomes a fixture at all good tea parties. π
Me too! It really is a delicious cake, I’m happy to say.
My sister used to make an apple cake that was out of this world, but this one sounds even better, I’ll have to tell her about it.
Yes, please do. It’s the kind of cake that gets eaten very quickly! Hope all goes well. Did you get to the pumpkin festival, despite rain, etc.?
Yes, I made it to the festival and got plenty of photos of the Jack O lanterns without getting rained on. They’ll all be in a blog post this Wednesday.
Great time for an apple cake. I am baking tomorrow, already bought some apples.
I nominate you for a One Lovely blog award. The rules you can find in my latest post. Thank you for sharing all the good things! π
Thank you very kindly. How lovely.
The only problem is that I don’t accept awards. Yikes, I’m sorry. BUT I am honoured by your even thinking of me.
My best, and thanks again,
Cynthia.
Apple pie!!!… It looks yummy and I bet It tastes the same way π
Best wishes to you, dear Cynthia :star:

And to you, a warm greeting in return.
Thank you.
I’ve been dealing with other matters lately, but will be back to visit your blog soon.
MMmmmmm – now that looks yummy! So yummy, I think I’d rather just eat it then bake it! π And now you’re famous – in another way – with a cake named after you!
Jeanne:
It is a very yummy cake.
All my life I dreamed of having a cake named for me…. okay, I’m kidding. all my life I was haunted by the Christmas cake I burned when I was an adolescent. so now this Lady Cynthia Cake makes me grin and makes up for my earlier failures.
Mehthinks you are too hard on yourself. Today’s a new day – go forth, bake and be happy!
